Is the Pro life movement authoritarian?

Lately I’ve been hearing this nonsense about how abortion enforcement is authoritarian in nature. We constantly hear the argument “My body my choice,” but is this a feasible argument or just another meaningless buzzword? We constantly hear the complaint, “keep your laws off my body,” but what if the pro-life movement wasn’t interested in the women’s body, but the child’s life instead.

Before we get any further, let’s define a few terms…

Of or relating to a governmental or political system, principle, or practice in which individual freedom is held as completely subordinate to the power or authority of the state, centered either in one person or a small group that is nor constitutionally accountable to the people.

The maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments.

The Movement

The movement for life is a movement for justice not a movement for authority. Let me ask you a question; is enforcing laws against rape and murder based in authoritarianism? Is telling a man he can’t put his privates into a place without consent an attack on his individual liberty? Absolutely not.

What would you tell a rapist who defended himself by saying, “my body my choice” and “keep your laws off my body”? He wouldn’t last a minute in court. Justice in America is based on the idea that we are all granted individual liberty up to the point where that liberty begins to infringe upon someone else’s life, liberty, or property.

No offense but we have no interest in legislating your body. What we’re actually interested in is protecting the most innocent form of American life that have no capacity for consent. So it’s slightly hysterical to see the socialist left claiming to give a hoot about individual liberty. Commonly they also love to bring up Europe with a smile of superiority looking upon the so called progressive northern EU nations. However the reality of their abortion laws is not the public perception:

The same side that is in favor of seizure of property, minimum wage, social healthcare, government regulations, and many other anti liberty principles. The pro choice movement doesn’t care about individual liberty unless it’s related to killing babies. This ideological hypocrisy is clear evidence that the left only cares about values when those values are convenient to their current political agenda.

We need to continue to have educated conversations in regards to whether or not an unborn child is considered life or whether or not this immoral practice is necessary. However, to say the extension of civil rights to the unborn is about authority is just ludicrous.

Let’s develop some actual arguments and quit with the baseless buzzwords that portray the movement in an inaccurate way. Civil discourse is good, cheap signs and silly buzzwords are not. If you argue abortion by arguing authority, it’s clear you don’t understand the argument in the first place.
