The richest man in the world will soon be no more.
It was announced today that Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie will be filing for divorce. The richest couple in the world are about to have some big changes in their lives.
Separating financials in a divorce can be very messy. Especially when you’re the worlds richest couple.
In 9 States in the United States, including Bezos home state of Washington, everything acquired throughout the marriage from real estate to income is considered joint property.
The residents in these states by law are entitled to a 50/50 split of all assets during a divorce. Yikes, Rome is going to come tumbling down soon.
It’s not known at this time if a prenuptial agreement was signed between the two, but it is doubtful. The Bezos have been married for over 25 years, before he started the giant now known as Amazon.
MacKenzie Bezos usually stayed out of the spotlight, but my favorite story about her is when she got so pissed about a biography of her husband that she wrote a lengthy 1-star review on Amazon. https://t.co/7fPdUYzOTL pic.twitter.com/5IaQYRXu3p

This could truly become the most expensive divorce in American history.
Analysis: Jeff Bezos’ divorce could become the most expensive in history — though exactly what he pays out will depend on the complexities of marital law and the value of Amazon. https://t.co/r7WFrGYPgQ – @CNBC
